Project 365

Welcome! This is my own 365 project of creating at least one post per day about the stuff that I learnt, achieved, and found, the stuff that made me happy, or the new thing I did every single day.

The project was started on 21 February 2010. It has stopped for few times but I am determined to continue!

This project is dedicated to myself. I want to feel grateful for every single thing I have. I want to be thankful for my own life. I just want to feel that I have enough.

Postcards

I couldn’t believe my eyes when one day I received SIX postcards at once! It turned out my CouchSurfing friend (who surfed at my place last year), Vinda, was the one who sent me all these postcards!!! Wew, she’s been traveling a lot! Paris, Budapest, Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, and Bratislava. Here are the two out of six postcards:

Disneyland Paris Budapest, Hungary

A high school friend of mine, Wiza, has been traveling in (some parts of) Europe and North Africa, among them were Morocco and Spain. Good thing she sent me this postcard from Fuerteventura, because I’ve got some postcards from Spain already… 🙂 She’s supposed to be in the Netherlands this week, so I’m still waiting for her call to meet up!

Last but not least, a postcard from Machu Picchu!!! I doubt I’ll ever go there, but oh well, don’t ever stop dreaming hehehe. This is one of my favorite postcards!!! Thanks Ikmal!

Memories of Egypt

with cousins in Cairo, Egypt. I was the one with the white bear

At the Cairo Tower. Little me sitting on the right hand-side

I’ve had little memories of my years in Egypt. Yes, I was born there. But I only lived there for 4 years until 1989. I managed to visit the country for a month in 1997, but sadly I didn’t have that much things to remember. We were there during summer, making it harder to enjoy our travel as it was SOOOO hot!

So I’m planning to come back. I’ve been planning to come back for so long. The one city that I’ve been wanting to visit is definitely Luxor. I’ve been to Alexandria and Suez, but I’ve never been to any cities in southern part of Egypt. I want to see Abu Simbel toooo! (and all temples around Aswan!)

Wait for me, Egypt. I’ll be back for the third time. I’ll visit the New Egypt, insya Allah.

Social Life Goes On…

Jessie, Uca, and me @ TU Delft

Though I’m busy with thesis, I don’t want to completely disappear from the world. Most of my friends do that and I don’t think I’ll be able to afford that. There needs to be a balance in everything. Thesis, social life, organization activities, and faith/religion. Ya Allah, I won’t be able to do this without You. Always guide and help me please :).

The Guy Behind Omar Suleiman

Who's the guy behind Omar Suleiman?

This was Omar Suleiman, announcing on Egyptian State TV that Mubarak had resigned. The people had finally brought down the regime. Egyptians never felt so free and happy until that day.

Watching Suleiman’s announcement over and over again, one might wonder: who in the world was that guy standing behind him?! Yes, he looked like that ALL THE TIME!!! With his sharp eyes and high-arc eyebrows, he rolled his eyes from left to right, right to left. He just stood there, showing no emotion or whatsoever. His face and eyebrows didn’t change at all for the course of Suleiman’s short announcement. Only his eyes rolled.

It turned out that it wasn’t the first time that he appeared on the televised announcement. This is another one:

Who's the guy behind Omar Suleiman?

Today, I found a Facebook page The Guy Behind Omar Suleiman that has been circulating in the Twitworld.  The photos cracked me up!!! Everyone should check the page out!

In the bid of finding who the guy really was, someone compared him to 4 different people who looked like him, one of them was Ben Ali! Hahaha. ROFL.

Who's the guy behind Omar Suleiman?

He was even replaced by some cartoon characters and KFC’s Colonel Sanders!

And here are other hilarious photos:

ROFL =))

The Fish’s Demand

The fish demands the collapse of the regime

The sign reads: El-samak yurid esqat el-nezam (the fish demands the collapse of the regime). Didn’t Mubarak get that message?! *sigh*

The Failed Model

DSC_9547

I was suddenly asked to be photographed for a friend’s portfolio few weeks ago. I never ever did it before so I was like, uh?! I didn’t know how to pose. The most difficult thing was to do a "bitchy" pose hahaha. I seriously couldn’t do it. My face was just not meant for that. I love to smile and laugh so that was hard. Somebody had to make me angry first.

But then, there was this random thought (as usual) running through my mind about modeling. It was: HOW BORING IT IS! I just couldn’t think myself of being a model. Well, I’m not pretty, beautiful, tall, or whatever. I’m sure nobody would want to see myself in the magazine. LOL. But if I were, I would have NOT been interested in modeling at all. I found it so boring. The only thing you’d do is posing, posing, and posing. What else, seriously? Oh, being famous, of course. But that’s not always the case. It’s nothing challenging.

(UPDATE: I think the most challenging thing was to be able to stand in the COLD place for hours!!!)

Just my random and useless rants :).

My QR Barcode

chart

It only contains my name, email, and website URL. But hey, I got one! 😀

Making a Logo

So I was asked to create a logo for an Indonesian restaurant in Jeddah. I kinda like it! Hehehe. What d’ya think?

Greetings from Granada

Granada postcard

One of the things I like about collecting postcards is its messages on the back! 🙂 The message on this postcard sent by a friend of mine, Yaqing, is by far my favorite one! Thanks Yaqing. Oh I hope I can visit Andalusia one day!

Some Familiar Places

The first three pictures below are the neighborhoods I frequently visited/passed by during my 4 years in Brisbane. And they were all completely under water! This picture was taken when the water hadn’t got to its peak of 5.5 meters yet! So, I’m bracing for more awful pictures first thing in midnight (or morning –  Brisbane time).

Perrin Park, which is a park very near to my old apartment in Taringa, Brisbane. I used to pass this bus stop everyday to go to the Uni.@ Sir Fred Schonell Drive, St. Lucia, located very near to my campus. I used to eat at Nando's over there!!!! :-S (far right)I used to work around this area. My office was in a higher ground but I walked through this street everytime I went to work. One of the worst hit suburbs in Brisbane. This one was in Chelmer, I believe.

It’s hard breaking to see these pictures! I can’t explain how sad it is to see the news every single day.

Of course, this is my favorite picture ever. The statue of Wally Lewis, nicknamed The King, who was ready to go under! I love how the Aussies still have their sense of humor alive during this devastating moment!

The statue is located in front of the Suncorp Stadium, which is already flooded. The whole rugby stadium was filled with water.

King Wally is ready to go under!!! hahaha
