Project 365

Welcome! This is my own 365 project of creating at least one post per day about the stuff that I learnt, achieved, and found, the stuff that made me happy, or the new thing I did every single day.

The project was started on 21 February 2010. It has stopped for few times but I am determined to continue!

This project is dedicated to myself. I want to feel grateful for every single thing I have. I want to be thankful for my own life. I just want to feel that I have enough.

Angklung Performance @ de Dommel

Glad it’s over! Phew. Finally I can take a rest a little bit. Our performance at the Festival Muziek op de Dommel was the biggest one so far, targeting the Dutch public audience, instead of Indonesians or students. We didn’t get to perform at the main stage, but hopefully next year we would be able to perform there!!

On that day, we all gathered in the chapel nearby the festival to do our last rehearsal before our performance. Then we walked from the chapel to the venue.

It was so hot on that day! We were all grumpy waiting for the performance at the main stage to finish. We were behind the schedule.

This was the main stage... right on the Dommel River :)Waiting for the main stage to finish its performance. Everyone looked so grumpy haha

Conclusion: it was a great performance! I really enjoyed it. The audience seemed to enjoy it too coz we got 2 offers to perform again. Yay!

Tomorrow: Festival Muziek

Festival Muziek op de Dommel

Angklung Eindhoven

Yay! Finally it’s here! The festival that we’ve all been waiting for is coming up very soon. I’m thrilled and super excited. I can’t wait to perform and promote our culture 🙂 I also can’t wait to watch the orchestra. It’s going to be awesome! I’ll post the videos when they’re available.

Since the theme of this year’s festival is Russian music, so we decided to play the following songs (I include the links of the past performances too): Kalinka, Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini v2, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty.

Wish us luck!!!

Angklung Eindhoven

I’m so proud of our angklung team! We have recently got "accepted" to perform at Muziek Op Dommel!!! This is a free orchestra concert which has the stage located by the Dommel River. I watched last year’s concert and it was AWESOME! This will be our first performance at a festival where a number of nationally-acclaimed musical ensemble will take part!!! Woooow, such an achievement! I hope we’ll be able to perform at the main stage!!! 🙂

Muziek Op Dommel

Meanwhile, here are our most recent performances, playing The Blue Danube (Johann Strauss) and Indonesian traditional songs (medley).

Nice orchestra concert! 🙂 Great to hear Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5 and Strauss’ Blue Danube!

Finally, I had a chance to watch a performance at Muziek Gebouw Frits Philips! I was browsing the website the other day when I found a free orchestra concert. I quickly booked the ticket. I was planning to book only 4 tickets, but I found out later that I actually booked 8 tickets! So I invited my friends to come along.

It was really nice! I loved it. I was so happy to hear Infernal Dance by Igor Stravinsky LIVE! 🙂 It was refreshing to be here… especially after many hours looking at the computer. Oh how I love my life.

I’m looking forward to yet another free orchestra concert on 2 January!!!

Symphony

I always love Mozart’s Symphony No. 40. I don’t really understand music and all those weird looking notes, but THIS is a beautiful piece of work! I’ve been watching different performances done by many orchestras and I have to say that this version conducted by Leonard Bernstein is by far my favorite one! The tempo is just right on the spot.

And yes, I’ve been watching orchestra performances again, after feeling so bored of James Blunt which I played it over and over again.

Not to forget that I’m going to watch an orchestra concert on Thursday night! I wanted to book 4 tickets, but due to some technical problems, I got 8 tickets in total! So I asked my angklung friends to join me. Hope it’s going to be an awesome evening. Can’t wait 🙂

Not to mention, we had special guests from UK and Germany who came specially for this concert!!! They played kacapi suling and rampak kendang.

This was us, the angklung team, performing at the Angklung Charity Concert at our campus, Technische Universiteit Eindhoven. The concert was a SUCCESS! We all had a wonderful time! 🙂

Alhamdulillah, up until today, we have received a total of 916.52 euro and the amount is expected to increase as people can still donate through electronic transfer until 3 December! I’m so relieved!!!

Thank you all for coming and for supporting the event :). And thanks to the lovely one and only conductor, teh Ida, and to those who worked hard to make this event a success (including teh Desi!). Great job everyone!!!

P.S. this is the video (final version) I made for the purpose of fundraising, which was shown at the concert:

All I can say now is: BUSY! HECTIC! And I LOVE IT!

Tomorrow is THE DAY! Wish us luck!!!!
